iamdifferent

This is one of my favorite t-shirts. I like clothes with a story behind. It amazes me when your clothes and accessoiries actually tell stories. It makes fashion extiting and interesting. You know there is now brand no big name that can give you the same as a shirt someine gave to you once. You'll always remember the person, the time, the music you were listening to.

I've got the braceletts from a fleah market, wearing my fave black skinnies and the T-shirt that gives me "that feeling" and basically describes who I am. It says "I am different". The letters "dbrs" stand for dreams become reality sometime.

The shirt is from Brooklyn, New York, full of memories and as far as I know there were only two of these produced...

east west

I love my bucket hat, I love my east west shirt and I like to roll up my skinny jeans a little bit with these platform sneakers. And let's say this won't be the last post with the bucket hat. The bucket hat is everything this summer.

a day at the lake

Let's be real, usually we don't dress up to go swimming but there are these days. My bikini has a tiger print. That's all I got to say. And then I saw these golden braceletts and of course in summer I wear my favorite cutoffs and I chose a Tshirt where you can see the bikini through.

I mean have you ever made the experience that you went out to do something chilled and you didn't dress up at all. I mean at all. No make up, no hair done and stuff. And then there is this hotty sitting over there and he is not even noticing you and you would have came up to him if you just looked the way you wanted to look to be comfortable. So sometimes comforable is not comfortable at all.

And I want to emphasize: These are the rare days when I'm not dressed all black...

Why not rockin' a turban?

Today's look is inspired by arabian, turkish and indian culture. Wearing a turban this summer is the best thing you can do.

Nothing inspires me more than different cultures and I am actually wondering why I don't see this look on the streets more often. Inspiration is right in front of your eyes in a city like Frankfurt! Don't be afraid to be different. And I don't want people to get me wrong. I know a turban or a hijab is a religious pice of clothing and I do have the highest level of respect for that. So I want it to be seen as more of an homage than anything else.

This summer a turban is what you wear on your head. I like these kinds of trends cause they give you the oppurtunity to learn about the people who live right with you and never tried to understand. No disrespect.

So, I chose to keep it all black, added a flower and big earrings though. Under my seethrough dress I am wearing short leggings with lace. Gotta love them! I chose a short dress cause I tried to meet halfway between east and west.

-The differences are what brings us together. Show some love.-

a summerdress

A simple black summer dress and you're good to go! It works with everything. I chose my summer love shoes and round sunglasses. And thats it, you don't need nothing more, no bra, not much jewellery. I kept it simple, clean and minimal. I love the classy length and the tiny straps.

Why my blog is called Black Napoleon

In my first post I promissed to tell you why I named my blog Black Napoleon. And I am glad that I have got the chance to explain it to you because you can learn somehing new. I'm such a nerd...

So, you know who Nelson Mandela is, right? You know who Obama is and in general you were good at history in school and you know everyone from Napoleon to Columbus.

Let me introduce: Jacob Morenga (1875-1907).
Jacob Morenga, also Jacobus Marenga, known as the "black Napoleon," (1875 - September 20, 1907) was an important figure in Namibia, then the German colony of German South-West Africa. He was chief leader in the insurrection against the German Empire which took place between 1904 and 1908, and was best known for forging an alliance between the rival Herero and Namaqua tribes.

All in all he was one of these great people we should know. Of yourse I say that. As you may know I have got a huge interest in black history so I am proud to tell you the story about Jacob Morenga. Otherwise I would have to tell you that Black Napoleon is basically the color of my underwear and what I ate* at last...(haha)

*Napoleon is a russian cacke, my favorite cacke.

pattern mix

I like controversities. My favorite print is the leopard print. For real, I mean it. Even though I love wearing all-black I'm a sucker for this pattern. It is wild, sexual and exiting and I love what of an effect it has on the bomber jacket.

Sometimes one special patterned jacket is not enough for me though. I put one on top and wear a blanketlike tartan scarf with it.

                                               -Because I can.-

closet favorites

Don't we all have got those favorites in our clostets we just feel comfortable and and good in? Let me show you my favorites: My favorite t-shirt is a 3/4 quarter sleeve, wide black jersey that is longer in the back. If I had to chose one top from my closet it might be this one. Honestly I could wear it every day.

As you may know I wear black skinny jeans most of the time. I love my Diesel denims.

My favorite shoes complete this calm and confident look I feel very comfortable in every time I wear it.

I call it "The ccc-look" - calm, confident, comfortable.

The story about the real love...

I would like to tell you how I found my true love. You know in the past I tried a lot. I couldn't get enough so there comes a point when it all falls down.

After my sommer romance with my converse chucks and my various love affairs with some sandales and other flats that didn#t do nothing for me  I walked down 34th street on an October night in New York. I stopped at Aldo. It was love at the first sight. I saw them standing there, waiting for me with a methaphorical ring and flowers. I tried them on and I said "yes" to the look that just suits me and brings out who I am, to the heels that is so comfortable that I could walk to the end of the world and the feeling they give me when I walk down the streets like I'm the one and only.

From that day on I never looked into a shiooping window again. I feels so satisfied and I just don't need anything else. I only have eyes for my love. They support me and my outfit in every situation, no matter what. I can rely on them and I will never let them go. And that is what counts. In the end of the day, don't we all want endless support and something we can rely on? This is forever! I would say in fashion this is the best investition I ever made. They make me happy everytime I wear them and they healed me.

So ladies, there is real love out there. For every one of us.

I like this outfit. Basically its a very sporty, casual look because of the tight cropped top and the jogging pants. But let's give it a nice frame with that amazing sporty-chic blazer and those strap-high heeled slippers. What I love about it is that you can not tell where I'm going or where I come from. I could go to the gym or to the dance class and afterwards to a bar, event whatever. A nice outfit for a long flight to a fashionable city...

Honestly I fell in love with the blazer. Its from Zara's new collection and I love it's fit, the drapy lapel and the zippers that go deep into the back side. This blazer is everything!

I love mixing up contrasts like casual with business or other kinds. That is what makes a look interesting to me and what reflects my inside. Means I like to keep my possibilities open to have the maximum of fun. Oh and yes, I am wearing my bit of underwear visible because I like it like that. If men can do it, I can do it #likeagirl

Hi there!

What's your name?
I am Karolina.

What are you?
I've got a whole lotta passion but no money in the bank. So I guess, I'm an artist. I am a fashion designer/stylist/blogger/artist.

What is this right here?
This is one of my new projects in fashion. I am starting a fashion blog called "Black Napoleon" I hope you'll like it and maybe I can inspire you with my pictures and stories.

Why is it called "Black Napoleon"?
I'm gonna explain this in an upcoming post ;)

What are you going to post on this blog?
Most of all I'm gonna post outfits I wore but also I'd like to discuss with you who wears what at the Oscars and things like that. So you are going to see different things here. There is not one particular style or brand. Fashion is fun, it can be black and white, it can be colorful. It can be expensive, it can be cheap. And its everywhere! Because I'm going to travel a lot I will have interesting styles, people and trends to show.

What inspires you the most as a creative person?
Definitely foreign cultures and countries but also some people I admire for their style in particular like Rihanna and Asap Rocky. I'm a great music fan (Hip Hop, R'n'B, Dancehall, Reggea, Soul, Jazz) so I get a lot of inspiration from watching music videos from Beyonce. And last but not least music lyrics inspire me a lot, especially the ones from Kanye West.

What is your motto in life?
I have way to many! But the most importants are: ONE LOVE!, Don't jugde what you don't know, Live life to the fullest!
